Sneaky photogs managed to capture Kate and Prince William sunbathing in various states of undress (it’s hard to sunbathe fully clothed) at the estate of Queen Elizabeth’s nephew in France.  The thieves then promptly sold the snaps to an agency, which in turn distributed them to several scandal rag editors across Europe, who printed them, including in France’s Closer Magazine.  Those of us who are appalled at this greedy invasion of royal privacy were relieved when Kate and Will won a judgement today in their civil case against Closer.  While this injunction prevents further distribution of the offending issue of Closer, it doesn’t do much to contain the spread of those copies already printed and sold.  Not to mention that the Italian Chi Magazine is still spewing out copies of an issue with its own large gallery of topless Kate specials.<br /> <br /> Disgraced former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s Mondadori publishing house happens to own both Closer and Chi.  As a non-British entity it is understandable that Mondadori has no particular allegiance to the British Royal Family.<br /> <br /> Everyone knows that Prince Harry and Kate enjoy a friendly, even jovial, relationship.  Some have suggested that perhaps Harry and Kate have engaged in some harmless flirting.  It has been reported that William has not taken kindly to all of this, looking askance at his wife and brother’s familiarity as it offends his princely sense of dignity.  Needless to say, whatever sense of dignity Harry was endowed with vanished long ago.  We reckon it left him somewhere between his Hitler impersonation and one of his many public drunks, long before his recent Las Vegas naked photo scandal.<br /> <br /> Sadly, we learned of a shocking development that threatens to undermine Will’s relationship with his wayward brother.  It seems that Harry’s commanding officer at a secret base in Afghanistan surprised the prince studying a copy of the banned and illegal Closer Magazine!  Commander English was forced to confiscate the contraband and file a formal complaint with the Royal Air Force.  Nothing nice can come of this.<br /> <br /> Reports reaching us claim that William hit the roof upon learning of Harry’s betrayal.  Queen Elizabeth just can’t get over this latest blow to the royal reputation and has warned palace staff not to inform Prince Phillip.  Word is that spiteful Camilla Parker Bowles, long a bitter rival of Duchess Kate’s, was spotted handing out copies of the banned magazine at Piccadilly Circus.<br /> <br /> Of course we are joking around here – a little harmless fun, nothing more.  But this has to be less offensive than those posts we see entitled ‘Ashton and Mila to Adopt!’ followed in the post by a description of the puppy they are considering.

As of right now none of the UK’s biggest tabloids are featuring the story. There’s hardly anything about the honeymoon pics in The Daily Mail, The Sun or The Mirror. To put this into perspective, The Mail will write a story every time Kate Middleton shops for socks. They’re burying the story. Oh, I wonder why?<br /> <br /> So far a St. James’ Palace spokesperson has only told Celebuzz, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s honeymoon was obviously a private occasion, and we would ask people to respect their privacy” but the royal couple is said to be furious over the intrusion of privacy. Are they so upset about the intrusion or about what people will say about Kate’s body? Prince William has always said he wanted to try to live a normal life with his common wife and not allow her to be bullied by the media like his mother. He always believed the media’s pressure to be perfect led to Princess Diana’s battles with bulimia and anorexia and her ultimate demise in a paparazzi-chased car crash in 1997.<br /> <br /> The pictures are indicative that Kate’s insecurities are driving her down the same unhealthy road. I’m really not trying to make something out of nothing. I understand most girls want to look tiny for their weddings but did Kate go too far? And is she still? Because despite all the “Kate Middleton pregnant, baby bump spotted!” stories out there, she really looks no different. Remember how she managed to make Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon look like beasts when she talked to them in LA last year? That’s hard to do.<br /> <br /> It’s safe to say the palace cannot have another Diana problem. In fact, the royal family has pretty much beaten us over the head with the fact that they’ve handled Kate with kid gloves in the hopes that she would transition into royal life much more smoothly than her predecessor. They do not want another princess with an eating disorder. Something’s got to happen because, whether they like it or not, Kate and Wills will be papped again. It’s inevitable. Those two love vacations, and if Kate continues to wear a bikini and have shoulders twice as wide as her hips, then she’s going to have more problems from the media. But what can the palace do? They can’t keep pressuring newspapers to bury the pics. Can the Queen order Kate to eat? Will William stop taking Kate to luxurious, top-secret beaches? That doesn’t seem fair. And really, none of this is. The couple were relaxed and thought they were alone and now the whole world knows about Kate’s unhealthy-looking body and will have an opinion.<br /> <br /> The royal family never talks about their private lives, so I hardly doubt a more direct, formal statement will be made, but Kate’s going to have to make some public outings with a slight bump under her mid-section to get people quiet about this one. Because, naturally, people are going to blame her weight on the fact she’s not pregnant yet. I tend to believe if Victoria Beckham can get pregnant, anyone can, but Kate makes Posh Spice look like she raids the kitchen at night while she’s on the phone to Katie Holmes.<br /> <br /> Kate and William have been adamant about wanting to be a modern, proactive royal couple who want to help change lives through charity while living like normal people. We always hear Kate doesn’t want to be a clothes horse; she doesn’t want to be hounded about weight; she doesn’t want people obsessed with her family. Unfortunately, some of that is never going to happen because she’s a young, beautiful princess, but if she truly wants her actions to speak for her, she’s going to have to put on some pounds. He was in the hospital during this family photo op and Kay thinks “key courtiers” whispered the idea to the Queen.<br /> Others suggest it’s all in the plans to “slim down” the monarchy. Prince Charles has said he’s in great favor of just senior royals carrying out official events. It would cut the royal family budget and assuage critics. This new proposal has angered Andrew since his daughters,<b> Princesses Beatrice </b>and<b> Eugenie</b> have wanted to not really work for a living and take a more active role as royals. Charles has been Prince of Wales longer than any other royal in history, and a lot are worried he will bring more of the same when he finally sits at the head of the table.<br /> <br /> What Kate and William have done for the monarchy in the last couple years is nothing short of extraordinary. It hasn’t been this exciting to watch since Princess Diana was parading her bikinis all over the Mediterranean and <b>Sarah Ferguson</b> was getting her toes sucked. A lot of people thought the Queen owed it to them to pass over the crown. One might even argue the Queen’s recent Jubilee celebration wouldn’t have been as hyped if Kate and Wills weren’t there to shoulder the attention. That’s not to say the Queen doesn’t have her admirers, but we all know Kate’s picture is on every magazine cover because she’s the current sell.<br /> <br /> And the Globe also says Prince William’s recent late night drunk fests have to do with his disappointment over the crippling decision. I always thought he wanted his dad to be king so he could have more normal life playing with his helicopters and playing polo with <b>Prince Harry</b>, but there must have been a little part of him that tasted the idea and got a little excited. Currently they’ve been cutting their time between Anglesey and London while William continues working and Kate continues her princess training.<br /> <br /> The apartment once belonged to the <b>Queen’s</b> late sister, <b>Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon</b>, and is desperately in need of some TLC. But outdated curtains and dusty furniture aren’t the only reasons Kate’s keen to clean; she and William want the extra space for their (hopefully) growing royal family.<br /> <br /> “They’ll want the extra space and security,” a source told <b>Us Weekly</b>. “She’s keen to work with interior designer Kelly Hoppen, but she wants to do a lot herself. This is why William has chosen not to share his future RAF work plans until next summer. If they’re expecting, it will be full-time London for them.”<br /> <br /> For someone who rarely speaks, Kate is really trying to make a statement, isn’t she? She recycles her clothes like she’s on a budget, does her own make-up (albeit a little too heavily at times), and now wants to to redecorate a 300-year-old piece of history with as little help as possible.<br /> <br /> I want to buy that Kate is really Susie Homemaker, money conscious, but I’m not sure if it’s an act or not. She grew up privileged and rich and started dating a prince when she was a teenager. She tasted the finer life at a very early age even though she grew up “middle class”. All of this redecorating and recycling is a challenging adventure for her – not a necessity like it is for so many others. Does that bother you?
