Don’t mess with Lily Allen (or Lily Cooper as we should really call her). A fact that one hateful Twitter user has learned.
The singer was sent a racist message from a Twitter user called @harrywil2010 who in his profile claimed to be Harry Wilson, a sniper in the Army. He tweeted at Lily,
“Just seen you bought s*** I meant adopted a child from Africa #hero.”
Lily is reportedly expecting her second child, but she’s still as feisty as ever and didn’t take the abuse without fighting back. She re-tweeed the message – promoting her fans to accuse the sender of racism – and she also reported the abuse to the Ministry of Defence - an investigation has now been launched and the offending account has since been taken down.
“We have identified where we think it has come from and we are investigating. We are aware of an offensive comment on Twitter,” a MoD spokesperson has confirmed to Sky News.
While an Army spokesperson continues, “Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination.
“We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is on-going.”
Lily’s actions have now caused the singer to receive a flurry of abuse from people supporting Harry Wilson, and Lily has re-tweeted a selection of the most offensive messages she’s received to show fans the level of abuse that she’s dealing with.
Here’s a few examples of the messages Lily has re-tweeted,
“Harry been told the top dogs in the army want him discharged! @lilyrosecooper a hope ur fuckin happy ya coke head bastard ?#harrysnotaracist”
“What a rancid bitch you are! Trying to get a hero fired over banter.Of course you'd be ok if you didn't work with Daddy etc”
“So @lilyrosecooper cant take a joke? Reporting a serving soldier to get him disciplined ! Im sure we can include her in a few other jokes ;)”
We say, go Lily!
