Actress Kristen Wiig has confessed that she’s happier than ever despite leaving Saturday Night Live after seven seasons.
She admitted to Marie Claire that her happiness is down to two things, contentment with her career and her relationship with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. She said, “I will say that I’m happier than I’ve ever been and I feel very lucky right now. Where I am now. Who he is. Those are the two big ones.”
Speaking about leaving Saturday Night Live, she said, “I know a lot of people probably assume, ‘Oh, she’s leaving because she is going to be doing movies now and things like that,’ which I will be, but I just always knew it was going to be seven and that was it.
“I think maybe if I were 22, I could see myself staying a little bit, but it just felt like the right time.”
Although happy with her decision to leave the show, she admitted that filming her last few sketches were extremely emotional. She explained, “I just wanted to get through it without breaking down in every sketch. Because nothing says comedy like breaking down.”
Even though Kristen has three major films in the pipeline, she insisted that it’s her future with Fabrizio that she is looking forward to the most, “When you’re on your deathbed, you probably aren’t counting the movies you’ve made. You’re looking at the people who are around you and thinking about the people in your life, and you can’t lose how important that is because that’s ultimately where happiness comes from.”
Well said!
