Forgive us if we’re a little hyper this afternoon – we’ve just spent our lunchtime in the presence of the Spice Girls!

Yes, Posh, Sporty, Scary, Baby and Ginger AKA Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell reunited once again to help celebrate the launch of Viva Forever, the musical based around Spice Girls music.

We arrived at the super-posh St Pancras Renaissance Hotel – which is home to the famous staircase that the girls used in the Wannabe video – and waited for the girls to arrive at the press conference.

After a quick introduction from Judy Craymer (the show’s producer and the brains behind Mamma Mia the musical), some funny chatter from the show’s writer Jennifer Saunders, and some teaser footage from the show’s rehearsals the ACTUAL Spice Girls took to the stage.

They all looked utter fabulous, naturally. And they were all very excited about the show. All the girls spoke to the press, although Posh sadly did keep quite quiet. Mel’s B and C has a little banter that suggested the Viva Forever cast are better at singing Spice Girls songs than the Spice Girls, VB said that the show would introduce a new generation to girl power (rahhhh!), Emma revealed she wanted her son to see the show so he could understand what mummy used to do, and Geri chatted A LOT.

Our life has well and truly been spiced up! Yay!

As for the musical itself, it’s an emotional journey that explores friendship, fame and the relationship between a mother and daughter. It sounds totally brilliant to us!

The show begins on 27 November and tickets are on sale through the usual outlets.
